The composition of Guinier‐Preston (GP) zones (c Z ) and matrix (c M ) in an Al‐15 mol‐% Zn alloy was determined for temperatures ranging between 80 and 180°C by applying a new method. The volume fraction of the GP zones is evaluated by their mean size and spacing. The latter quantity is computed from the position of the maximum of the interparticle interference function.
