The electrical parameters of low‐pressure glow‐discharges are discussed with respect to formation of high‐quality organic thin films on conducting substrates. It is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that ac discharges operated at frequencies of the order of 10 KHz are well suited for producing flawless dielectric films. The produced coatings are characterized by electrochemical methods and by electron microscopy. The permeability of the film, its relationship with the chemical nature, and the associated electrochemical behaviour are discussed.
