The charging/discharging behaviour of polypyrrole, polyaniline as well as of some defined conjugated oligomers with chain‐like structure was studied voltammetrically. The results show that the potential dependent charging and discharging processes are mainly caused by faradaic charge transfer reactions. Obviously, there are two classes of conducting polymers, one of which includes, among others, polypyrrole, polythiophene and polyacetylene, whereas polyaniline forms a class of its own.
