Formation of the Alphabet Workers Union was recently announced. Unlike a conventional union, the new organization is open to all types of Alphabet workers, whether they are full‐time, temporary, vendor, or contractor employees and regardless of what job they do, which means it is open to membership from managers and supervisors. As it is not a traditional union, it is not necessarily a labor organization as defined by the National Labor Relations Act. It does, however, have dues‐paying members, an elected board of directors, and paid organizing staff whose job it will be to bring more Alphabet workers into the union.
