Many union free companies periodically undertake objective assessments of their vulnerability to third‐party activity. The assessment, which may be annual, biennial, or at any other frequency suited to a firm's circumstances, assigns numerical values to various vulnerability factors. The analysis may produce an overall vulnerability rating to be compared over time, or it may assess plant sites separately to provide relative ratings for that cycle only. The assessment may be based on one source of data (for example, a selection of questions from the employee opinion survey) or it may combine data from several sources. Any combination of these characteristics is considered a vulnerability analysis.
