In attempting to organize the workplace, a union organizer starts by looking for a leader among the employees and supporting formation of an in house organizing committee. Then, with the committee's aid, the organizer will seek to obtain the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of fellow employees. Employees who have signed authorization cards will be asked to solicit their coworkers’ signatures.
