The Obama National Labor Relations Board achieved its objective of shortening the period between when a union files a petition for an election and the date the Board conducts the election with new rules in 2015, often described as the “ambush” or “quickie” election rules. From the start, management has opposed the changes on the grounds that the sped‐up process interferes with management's opportunity to inform employees of its view on why unionization is not good for the company or its employees.
