It is critical that supervisors be prepared to respond immediately if they hear rumors that union cards are being circulated. Often an organizing campaign can be nipped in the bud without the need for a time‐consuming or expensive election if the employer acts swiftly and convincingly as soon as there is a hint of card signing.
