The owners of Jimmy John's sandwich franchise restaurants must have been surprised to learn they violated federal labor law when they disciplined employees who had posted handbills in stores and public places suggesting that the stores' sandwiches might be germ‐infested due to the restaurant not providing employees with sick leave. That, though, was the gist of the National Labor Relations Board's ruling in Jimmy John's , 361 NLRB No. 27 (2014).
