Cover: Optically‐adressable polymeric microshells made principally of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) and of an azobenzene‐containing polyelectrolyte (PAzo) were produced using the layer‐by‐layer assembly technique. In water, these hollow containers are permeable to labeled polymers. However, by irradiating the loaded capsules with a light source of sufficient intensity, the former shrink and become impermeable to the dye.
