Summary: This paper describes the use of pentafluorophenoxy alumoxane, an oligomeric compound containing Al(OC 6 F 5 )O units, as a cocatalyst for metallocene complexes in alkene polymerization reactions. Pentafluorophenoxy alumoxane is produced by two alternative routes. The first route consists of two consecutive reactions: (a) the reaction of AlR 3 with C 6 F 5 OH, and (b) the reaction of the product of the first step with water. The second route is the reaction between methylalumoxane and C 6 F 5 OH.The synthesis of pentafluorophenoxy alumoxane oligomers.
