Abstract In the course of preparing the Special Issue of Macromolecular Rapid Communications on High‐Throughput and Combinatorial Methods in Polymer Science, the question arose of how a global company such as Bayer coordinates its activities in high‐throughput experimentation (HTE). Being usually confronted with research results in the form of publications as in this issue, Macromolecular Rapid Communications was interested in the earlier stages of management and development, and wished to provide a look behind the scenes. Georg Wiessmeier made this possible by taking the time to answer a lot of questions with respect to the Bayer way of pursuing HTE, as well as the general development and future perspectives of this technology.
