Iron(III)‐centered star polymers of poly( ε ‐caprolactone) (PCL) and copolymers with polylactide have been synthesized by a divergent ring‐opening polymerization initiated from an alcohol‐functionalized dibenzoylmethane (dbm) complex. This strategy provides a route to well‐defined polyester products with relatively high molecular weights and low PDIs. These reactions require no added catalyst. The resulting Fe‐centered star polymers and the associated polymeric ligands obtained upon Fe complex fragmentation in acid are responsive materials that could find application in delivery vectors, sensors, supported polymeric catalysts, and optical materials.
