A new kind of molecular deposition films was obtained by alternating deposition of a bipolar quaternary ammonium salt and poly(maleic acid monoester). The pH value of the cationic solution has great effect on the supramolecular structure of the polymeric ultrathin films. Two kinds of ultrathin films were formed according to a quasi‐symmetrical model and a quasi‐asymmetrical model.
