Polymerization of 2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline was carried out using a trifunctional initiator, 2‐perbromomethyl‐2‐oxazoline. The degree of polymerization (DP) of the resulting polymer was very close to the feed mole ratio of the monomer to initiator. The number‐average molecular weight M̄ n increased linearly with conversion, indicating the living nature of the propagating chain end. 1 H NMR and end‐group analyses results are consistent with the proposal that the polymer possesses a star‐shaped structure.
