Abstract The phosphorylating polycondensation in solution catalyzed by 4‐dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) was studied for the first time. The polymerization rate and the average molecular weight of the polyphosphate are increased by using DMAP as a catalyst. The influence of reaction conditions on the catalytic activity of DMAP were preliminarily investigated.
