Both propene polymerization and ethylene/propene copolymerization were conducted with an Al 2 O 3 ‐supported CpTiCl 3 (Cp: cyclopentadienyl) catalyst using a common alkylaluminium as cocatalyst. The catalyst system gave atactic polypropene with frequently inverted propene units which are randomly distributed over the polymer chain. The structure of poly(ethylene‐ co ‐propene) produced with the catalyst system was found to be very different from that obtained with ordinary titanium based catalysts.
