Cover: The performance of anticorrosive coatings can be evaluated using various analytical techniques, for example SEM‐EDX‐analysis as shown on the cover. But which are the best analytical tools for the development of new anti‐corrosion coatings, risk assessment, quality control and failure analysis? And which methods are the most promising to understand the mechanisms of protection and failure of anti‐corrosion? The 6 th corrosion protection symposium (22‐24 th June 2016, Monastery Irsee, Germany) offers a platform for knowledge and technology transfer and for informal exchange between basic research and industrial practice.
