Cover: The graphics provide a summary of the main ideas of the published work. The left‐side images correspond to an aluminium coating produced by high velocity oxygen‐fuel (HVOF) thermal spray after being tested for corrosion. It can be observed from both the cross‐section micrograph (top left) and top view profi lometer image (bottom left) that a deep pit was formed leading to the failure of the coating. However, the corrosion current density of the coatings is highly related with its characteristics, i.e. thicknesses or porosity (fi gure bottom right), which can be controlled by the HVOF parameters. Optimum corrosion control coatings can be produced (as shown by the cross‐section micrograph top right) by the optimization of the HVOF conditions. More information can be found in: C. Taltavull, A. J. Lopez, B. Torres, A. Atrens, J. Rams, Optimization of the high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) parameters to produce effective corrosion control coatings on AZ91 magnesium alloy, Materials and Corrosion , 2015 , 66 , 423 .
