The corrosion behaviors of electroless Ni–P coatings deposited on carbon steel in sulfur‐bearing solutions were investigated by weight gain test and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that the corrosion rate of electroless Ni–P coating was directly related to the sulfur content, immersion time, and test temperature. The corrosion rate increased with the prolonged immersion time. Increasing the temperature can markedly increase the corrosion rate of electroless Ni–P coating. The electroless Ni–P coating had a better corrosion resistance than 316L stainless steel against Cl − corrosion in sulfur‐bearing solution.
