The mathematical description of reinforcement corrosion leads to equations which can not be solved by analytical functions. Therefore a solution has to be found by numerical means. One approach is given by the use of the boundary element method. To examine the application of this method to reinforcement corrosion two practical problems have been analysed. This paper reports the basic input parameters, the simulation results and a comparison with the results attained using the finite element method.
