This paper presents a review of the application of microbiological methods, chemical analysis and surface analysis techniques in studying the microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) process of metals and their alloys. As a multidisciplinary research, some techniques used to study biofilm‐related problems are also discussed in this paper, as potential tools in this field.
