A series of Cu‐Ni alloys, ranging from 30 to 90% copper was studied by electrochemical methods in 3.5% sodium chloride solution and in sea water. The composition of the corrosion layer and of the solution after various immersion times was determined by chemical methods and X‐ray diffraction. The results are consistent with a corrosion process involving dissolution of copper and nickel enrichment at the surface. The corrosion resistance of all the alloys is better in NaCl solution than in sea water.
