The breakdown and repassivation potentials of stainless steel‐ceramic prostheses have been determined both in a Hanks' solution and in implants in dogs. These materials show low susceptibility to pitting corrosion as well as a high repassivation capability. The influence of surface roughness, exposure time and homogenization treatment on the pitting corrosion behaviour is studied.
