The physical adhesion between organic coating film and metallic surface can be enhanced by chemical interactions. This effect is achieved in this work by dibenzoylmethane which is added to an acrylic resin solution for the coating of carbon steel surface, as demonstrated by the formation of the iron complex on the metallic surface and the significant increase in corrosion resistance of the coating film in a condensing humidity test.
