Using electrodes of the ring‐disc type the authors have investigated the dissolution of brass in sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, ammonium chloride and hydrochloric and sulfuric acids as well as mixtures of these chemicals. Using potential current curves the influence has been assessed of concentration, pH, speed of rotation, aeration and additional anions and cations. The results obtained show the ranges of preferential dissolution of zinc, the simultaneous dissolution of copper and zinc and corresponding Tafel slopes.
