Talent development within organizations seems to have been a casualty of the recession. That is short‐sighted, according to Morgan and Jay. Complacent leaders may be misreading signs of employee loyalty and commitment. The authors detail a number of ways that leaders can prevent their most talented employees from defecting. Organizations must not be deluded into thinking that things will “go back to normal.” Developing talent during times of crisis can assure that your best employees help drive success as you navigate the “new normal.”
