Scott draws on her leadership experience at Google, Apple, and elsewhere to explain her concept of Radical Candor . This means people need to hear the truth for their own sake as well as that of the organization and their colleagues, but they need to hear it in the right way, to be properly understood and in the best interest of all. This is especially important given the interdependent nature of teams. She discusses how to discover and work with a person's growth trajectory , taking into account whether it is steep or gradual. She writes: “People evolve, so your relationships must evolve with them. Care personally; don't put people in boxes and leave them there.”
