Finkelstein has studied people he calls “superbosses” in a number of industries, including hospitals (Tommy Frist), hedge funds (Julian Robertson), newspapers (Gene Roberts), and filmmaking (George Lucas). Finkelstein contends all bosses and managers should share the following attributes: “developing world‐class talent who can adapt and adjust, learn to get better at whatever they do, and in the final analysis, create value for themselves and their organizations.” He found that superbosses were demanding of others, yet also demanding of themselves, and willing to share responsibility while continually imparting wise teaching lessons. Above all, they “help other people accomplish more than they ever thought possible.”
