Linkner contends that lessons drawn from the sobering financial collapse of the city of Detroit (his hometown) can be profitably applied by all types of enterprises. He describes how Detroit's problems grew and festered over a long period of time, leading eventually to bankruptcy. Now, it is in the early days of a renaissance, in part due to highly committed, visionary business and civic leaders. He says that the city has been able to hit the metaphorical reset button, and organizations almost always have access to a similar theoretical device, no matter how dire their circumstances might be.
