As a leader, are you limiting yourself and your organization through “and/or” thinking? Howitt thinks you probably are. What's more, this type of mind‐set separates running a financially successful organization from one that delivers value beyond the bottom line to a wide variety of stakeholders. It does not have to be this way, and indeed leaders can create a different future by being “modern‐day heroes who choose to live lives of passion and precision, artistry and analytics, intuition and intelligence.” Similarly, be careful about the term work‐life balance , which he contends is also self‐limiting, implying a false separation between life and work.
