The oral dysplastic precancerous lesions must be attacked in an early stage, giving the patient a better chance of cure with minimal mutilation. The entire lesion has to be removed in order to prevent local recurrences after treatment. Thirty‐two patients received treatment using the CO 2 laser for circumscript disorders of the oral mucosa. The results indicate that CO 2 laser treatment represents an alternative technique to the treatment of oral dysplastic precancerous lesions.
