The roles of the physical and sensitive values of color in the laser treatment of nevi are often confused in the literature. A representative sensitive value for the five basic colors of the Munsell system was obtained and compared with the physical values of the same colors analzyed spectrophotometrically. A discrepancy between the two values was found, which indicated the use of the physical value in deciding the actual treatment and doses; while the sensitive value should only be used in the initial diagnosis and treatment evaluation.
