This paper briefly reviews the development of linear hydrogenated diene copolymers as VI improvers, and reports on a novel class of VI improvers, the hydrogenated, star‐branched polyisoprenes. The viscometric properties of multigrade oils containing such products and their performance in gasoline and diesel engines will be described.
