The global laser system market increased six‐fold over the past two decades as laser material processing successfully took over domains formerly occupied by conventional techniques. Today, global key markets like mobile communication, healthcare or transportation are pushing laser micromachining and waiting for it to push the limits of what is technically feasible. Global players will look for laser makers with global reach to secure immediate support wherever they manufacture. A diversified product portfolio and a network of specialized partners will help laser manufacturers to offer and evaluate whatever laser technology is needed. Finally, customer demands will push laser makers like Rofin to offer process design, laser source, beam guidance, parts handling, machine building and even certification and validation support from one source.
