The GSI Group Inc. was founded in 1968 as General Scanning, Inc. Since then they changed towards a supplier of lasers, laser systems and precision motion devices. In particular, the acquisition of Excel Technology Inc. in summer 2008 was a major step in this direction. Andreas Thoss spoke for LTJ with Philippe Brak, Vice President and General Manager of Laser Business at GSI, about the acquisition and GSI's future plans.
