Sarcoidosis is a protean disease which may involve several anatomic sites often examined by the otolaryngologist. Sarcoidosis of the nasal mucosa may cause nasal obstruction, especially in the presence of a concomitant deviated nasal septum. The authors review current knowledge pertaining to the etiology, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment as a background for presentation of two interesting cases which highlight the usefulness of a topical steroid nasal spray to relieve obstruction and congestion. Topical steroid therapy is effective and is recommended especially when systemic steroids are not otherwise warranted.
