Sternohyoid muscles for reconstruction after thyroid cartilage anterior partial resection

Technique Following the neck incision and development of the subplatysmal flaps, the infrahyoid muscles were retracted laterally to expose the thyroid cartilage. Anterior partial resection of the thyroid cartilage and smoothening of the edges of the remaining thyroid ala was performed using the micromotor drill and burrs. Approximation of remaining thyroid ala was done using resorbable sutures. The sternohyoid muscles were then stretched onto the area of the defect and apposed using resorbable sutures (Fig. 1).
