The technique of laser flash photolysis/laser absorption has been used to obtain an absolute removal rate constant of (3.85 ± 0.18) × 10 −10 cm 3 molecule −1 s −1 for singlet methylene, 1 CH 2 (ã 1 A 1 ), with germane (GeH 4 ) at ambient temperature. The removal rate constant is compared with the values for methane (CH 4 ) and silane (SiH 4 ) which have been determined previously. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
