Rate constants and activation parameters for the direct addition reaction of methyloxirane or ethyloxirane to alkyl‐2‐hydroxyalkyl sulfides or successive oxypropylene and oxybutylene adducts in the presence of basic catalysts were determined at 373–403 K. This reaction was found to be of the first order with respect to alkyloxirane, sulfide, and catalyst.
