Earlier arguments concerning D (CF 3 O 2 ‐CF 3 ) and D (CF 3 ‐O 2 ) are shown to be probably wrong. New values of 86 and 49 kcal/mol, respectively, are derived. C–O bond strengths are compared between CF 3 ‐ and CH 3 ‐containing compounds.
