The pyrolysis of 1‐iodopropane has been studied by the variable encounter method (VEM) at temperatures from 625 to 840 K. Deactivating wall collisions are found to be stronger for this molecule than for the hydrocarbons previously studied in this temperature range. The results of this study are compared with earlier steady‐state work.
