We have studied kinetic laws of polyvinyl alcohol oxidation under the action of an ozone–oxygen mixture and hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous medium. It is shown that polymer oxidation is carried out by the radical mechanism. The scheme of oxidative transformations of polyvinyl alcohol explaining the obtained results is suggested.
