Abstract Integration of attempts to explain trauma with therapies focused on the change process is important for effective therapy. An attempt is made to use hypnotic and strategic therapy principles within a dissociative conceptualization of the trauma response. Case examples of strategic therapy principles and of a trauma case are presented to aid in clarification of concepts.
