This article presents a crisis intervention model for administering to the family of a victim who has experienced a traumatic event. After a brief discussion of stress‐induced anxiety, delineations between the trauma victim and the victim's family are presented. Grounds for family crisis intervention then precedes the actual model which incorporates five steps: making psychological contact, exploring the dimensions of the problem, examining possible solutions, assisting in taking concrete action, and follow‐up. Therapist behaviors and goals/objectives are offered for each step.
