J. Sep. Sci. 2018, 41 , 68–98 DOI: 10.1002/jssc.201700863 The cover picture shows a series of chromatographic peaks of a real LC×LC separation rising out of a mountainous landscape. LC×LC chromatograms are recorded as a series of 1D chromatograms. The white lines reflect modulations, i.e. fractions transferred to the second dimension. The series of peaks correspond to almost orthogonal separations. The data are converted to a three‐dimensional chromatogram, the beauty of which approaches that of the natural landscape.
