Eleven cases of prolonged survival after extensive resection of colon cancer including neighboring structures are presented. Our understanding of colon cancer as a rapidly invasive but slowly metastasizing tumor has provided the rationale for this approach. Techniques of ureteral and abdominal wall reconstruction are presented. Cures are possible with this approach, and without the availability of adequate chemotherapy aggressive resections remain the mainstay of treatment.
