Percutaneous transhepatic biliary cytology and biopsy was carried out in 19 patients with a malignancy‐related jaundice, using a percutaneous transhepatic biliary tube. The preoperative diagnosis was positive in 17 patients (89%). This simple and safe method will facilitate operative procedures, diagnosis, and palliative chemotherapy regimens.
