Oxygen and carbon dioxide partial pressures in canine pedicle flaps are measured with a mass spectrometer before and for a week following flap manufacture. These partial pressures are a direct reflection of a flap's blood supply. The initial insult to cutaneous blood circulation and its subsequent recovery are clearly documented.
