A survey was done on the histologic findings on cleared neck dissection specimens in a group of 42 patients who underwent resection for pharyngeal cancer. Positive nodes were found in 69% of the specimens, with upper deep jugular nodes being most frequently involved and with multiple levels of involvement being found in one quarter of the patients.
